Greetings from Lake Athabasca!

On behalf of the Smith Family, and the Team at Athabasca Fishing Lodges I would like to thank you for your patience, and continued interest as we worked through a tough 2020 for so many people. With COVID-19 still looming, and the uncertainty of what the remainder of 2021 will bring, we will continue to work on updating the cabins, outposts, and amenities to ensure when things get back to normal, your stay will remain a first class memorable experience. It is our hope that the borders will open, and that we can see as many people as possible enjoy the great fishing, and camaraderie around the camp.

During the summer of the 2021 season, it is our goal to have six new log cabins constructed in the camp. The beautiful western red cedar log cabins have been assembled, and are currently in British Columbia. The cabins will be disassembled in the spring, and transported to Stoney Rapids where we will ship them over to the camp by barge. We’re hopeful the water level will be lower, and the weather more accommodating to accomplish our goal this upcoming summer.

The most exciting news is the brand new Cessna Grand Caravan Athabasca Fishing Lodges purchased to make your trip to camp more comfortable and memorable. The very roomy Caravan will seat eight passengers comfortably, along with their baggage and much needed fishing supplies. Whether it be a day trip to one of the outposts for fishing, or a sightseeing adventure around Lake Athabasca, it will be a quiet and very comfortable flight.

As we distance ourselves from a 2020 that was full of many unfortunate twists and turns, we look forward to a new year and meeting those of you that are able to make it to this truly amazing place.

Sincerely,
Shane Pogue
